A Typical Day On Safari In Africa

Have you ever imagined what it's like to experience the unrivaled magic of an African safari? Picture embarking on a journey where every dawn brings a new adventure, every dust trail leads to amazing wildlife, and every sunset paints a canvas of colors against the vast African sky.

For those eager to grasp the intricacies of a typical African safari day, we've meticulously crafted a guide to offer a comprehensive overview. This includes details of your day-to-day activities when dwelling at an authentic lodge or campsite, undertaking game drives in a national park or private reserve.

Early morning

Picture this: your day begins around 6am, just as the African sun paints the morning sky. A steaming cup of tea and some biscuits greet you first thing. Then, as the day breaks, you set out on your first game-drive of the day. Creatures of all kinds are still teeming with energy in the cooler morning temperatures, making this the optimal time for chance encounters with the Big Five, who are finishing up their night-long hunt.

Late morning

We are talking a mid-morning reprieve either back at your lodge or right where the wildlife is, under the open sky of the savannah. If we head back, expect to be greeted with a robust breakfast spread. But if it's an on-site breakfast in the grasslands, you'll return to the comforts of your accommodation just when the midday sun commences its reign.

Lunch and afternoon

Around noon, take a savoury pause for lunch at your lodge or camp, followed by an afternoon of leisure and the chance to enjoy facilities like swimming pools amid the wild. Another round of refreshments beckons around 3pm, resourcing you for the upcoming afternoon game drive.

Evening

Equally riveting as the morning, your evening game-drive promises a showdown of predators coming out of their daytime rest, their prey on high alert as dusk creeps in. The drive concludes just before darkness fully descends, letting you freshen up for pre-dinner cocktails and a hearty meal. Then, enjoy the evening warmth of the campfire, swapping tales of the day's adventures and anticipation for tomorrow.

Night

Some nights, you'll break the routine with a nocturnal game-drive. In such cases, your vehicle, equipped with potent spotlights, and our sharp-eyed trackers take the lead in unveiling the subtler movements of the nocturnal bush life. Leopards, typically elusive and usually perched high on trees, become prime viewing contenders. A night game-drive can be a game-changer, offering a distinct and memorable experience of the African wild.
