Assemble the tribe and explore Kenya, starting with a stay at the popular Giraffe Manor, where rare Rothschild’s giraffes sometimes join guests for breakfast. Then it’s on to the cultural heartlands, traversing the arid, stunning terrain of the Samburu Game Reserve, where life revolves around the bronzed Uaso Nyiro River. Next, visit Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its millions of pink flamingos and iconic wildlife. Last stop: Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp for the quintessential safari experience on the Masai Mara’s endless plains. Thrill the kids with age-appropriate activities from building fires Maasai-style to nature walks and spotting storybook animals on game drives.
Day One: Arrival Into Nairobi
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by an Odyssey Safaris representative and transferred by private vehicle to Giraffe Manor. Often referred to as one of the most instagrammed properties in the world, Giraffe Manor is set in 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest in the Langata suburb of Nairobi.
Giraffe Manor is one of Nairobi’s most iconic buildings. The historic manor house has extraordinary appeal, that harks back to the 1930s when visitors first flocked to East Africa to enjoy safaris. With its stately façade, elegant interior, verdant green gardens, sunny terraces and delightful courtyards, guests often remark that it’s like walking into the film Out of Africa.

Day Two: Exploring Nairobi
Today’s tour of Nairobi takes in all the highlights, visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and its pioneering orphan’s project. Meet the little ones as they return from foraging in the bush, ready for their milk feed. Continue to the Giraffe Center, home of the endangered Rothschild Giraffe, where you will have the opportunity to interact with these gentle giants. Round off the day with a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, once owned by Danish Author Karen Blixen. The Oscar winning film ‘Out of Africa’, is based on Karen’s life.

Day Three – Five: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve
Leave Nairobi early morning to reach Samburu Intrepids, a stylish camp set on the picturesque banks of the Uaso Nyiro River. At the camp’s kid-friendly Adventurers’ Club, enjoy fun activities such as homestead building and spear throwing as well as entertaining talks on wildlife and culture. Older children may embark on guided bush walks or accompany parents on game drives to spot rare Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe, with experienced Samburu naturalists leading the way.

Day Six – Seven: Samburu National Reserve – Lake Nakuru
Drive to relaxed Mbweha Camp, located just outside Lake Nakuru National Park in the Rift Valley. Enjoy an Afternoon game drive in the park. Home to a multitude of plains game, this is an ideal area for guided bush walks. Balloon Safaris ending in a champagne breakfast can also be arranged for clients staying at Mbweha Camp.

Day Eight – Ten: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara National Reserve
Early departure for the beautiful Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp located in a private concession bordering the famous grasslands of Masai Mara National Reserve. The camp’s WILDChild program provides youngsters with opportunities to join rangers on nature walks, make a fire the Maasai way and much more, while parents are off enjoying game-viewing. For kids aged 3 and up, a private vehicle can be arranged for a game drive tailored to suit children’s ages.

Day Eleven: Masai Mara – Nairobi – International Flight Home
Soak up your last morning on safari before returning to Nairobi by air. This afternoon, enjoy lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant, Nairobi’s famed restaurant and a shopping excursion. A day-room is at your disposal until you are transferred to the airport for your international departure.
