This 8-day safari combines incredible wildlife experiences, superb national parks, with an optional night game drive, resulting in an unforgettable safari adventure in Kenya. After your first night in Nairobi, your journey begins as you make your way to the Olpejeta Conservancy to visit the last remaining rhinos and exciting game drives. After a visit to the vibrant wildlife of Lake Nakuru, spend your remaining days traversing the endless plains of the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve.
Day One: Depart Home
Hooray, the wait is over! Today you depart from your local international airport and begin your adventure to Africa!
Day Two: Arrival Into Nairobi
Following your flight, the Odyssey Safari staff will greet you at the airport and load your bags for transport to the Safari Park Hotel. Once you are settled in, you may select an optional activity or simply relax at the camp for the trip ahead. Some of the possible optional activities include: Bomas of Kenya, the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, the Karen Blixen Museum, a tour of downtown Nairobi, the National Museum, or the Langata Giraffe Center.

Day Three: Nairobi – Ol Pejeta Conservancy
After breakfast, our adventures in the bush begin making our way to the spectacular Sweetwaters Tented Camp in the secluded heart of Ol Pejeta Ranch and Rhino Reserve. Here, these magnificent beasts are given sanctuary from those who would take their lives to sell their horns. Additionally, the Jane Goodall Institute operates a remarkable Chimpanzee Sanctuary where we meet the primates face to- face. This is Africa as Teddy Roosevelt saw it years ago when he led one of the first safaris to tour Africa in comfort and splendor; the tents at Sweetwaters Camp will remind you of this bygone era.

Day Four: Ol Pejeta Conservancy – Lake Nakuru National Park
Today you travel down the eastern wall of the Great Rift Valley into the lakes region and Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch. The journey takes you through the beautiful Kenyan highlands, one of the most fertile agricultural areas in all of Africa, where farmers grow crops such as corn, wheat, coffee, and tea. Following lunch, depart on an afternoon game drive to get your first look at this romantic park full of rich wildlife. The park is home to a variety of animals including giraffe, impala, Cape buffalo, and striped hyena.

Overnight at Sarova Lionhill Lodge – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day Five: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara National Reserve
This morning we will drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains, famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest migration, and is also the home of the Big Five: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino. Upon arrival at camp, check-in and enjoy a delicious lunch. After, depart on an afternoon game run. Watch for elephant, rhino, topi, cheetah, and more. Return to camp for dinner and get some rest as the adventures continue tomorrow!

Day Six: Exploring Masai Mara National Reserve
The search for great predators and vibrant wildlife continues today during extensive morning and afternoon game drives. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs. When the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra arrives, generally between August and early November, the population enlarges by almost 2 million. This provides a great food source for predators such as lion, leopard, and hyena.

Day Seven: Masai Mara – Nairobi – International Flight Home
Enjoy an early breakfast at the camp, checkout and conduct a game drive en-route with an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Maasai people to witness the singing and dancing that is part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience. Souvenir shopping and a scenic stop at the edge of the Great Rift Valley before arriving Nairobi between 3 and 4 PM. Day rooms, dinner and activities can be arranged depending the timing of your flight at an additional cost. We will then transfer you from Nairobi to the airport for your international flight back home.
