Details & Itinerary

Embark on a tour of Tanzania’s best wildlife highlights within the mesmerizing natural wonder of the Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti, and Lake Manyara. A smooth and seamless journey filled with exciting animal encounters and atmospheric camps that you can just sit back and enjoy the wonders of Tanzania.

Days: Eight

Countries: Tanzania

Departures: Daily

Day One: Arrival Into Arusha

Your journey begins as you are collected from the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to Arusha Coffee Lodge. This growing city lies near the foot of Mount Meru, serving as the travel hub for safaris to Tanzania’s famous Northern Safari Circuit.

Day Two: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park

On the second day, we travel from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park, taking an afternoon game drive and stopping for a picnic lunch along the way. This incredibly scenic national park is noted for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of baboons and flamingo flocks.

Keep an eye out for buffaloes, elephants, zebras, wildebeest and giraffe as well as antelopes such as bushbuck. Lake Manyara also hosts an abundance of birds, including numerous waterbirds.

Day Three: Lake Manyara National Park – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, we depart for the Serengeti National Park with a picnic lunch along the way. Renowned for the annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing.

Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle. Golden-maned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers.

Solitary leopards haunt the acacia trees lining the Seronera River, while a high density of cheetahs prowl the southeastern plains. There is more to Serengeti than large mammals. There are over 500 species of birds, and your guide will
also introduce you to the small five.

Enroute to Serengeti, you will drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Ndutu Plains. Afternoon game drive will follow.

Day Four: Exploring Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, immerse yourself in the splendor of the Serengeti, one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserves. Discover the park’s iconic creatures on an optional hot-air balloon safari at sunrise, and set out in a 4×4 on morning and afternoon safaris through the golden grasslands. With luck, spot all of Africa’s “big five”—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo. As enduring as the game-viewing, you are sure to be in awe of the liberating sense of space that characterizes the Serengeti Plains.

Day Five: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast enjoy a morning game drive exploring more of the wonderful Serengeti. Upon return, check out and depart for the Ngorongoro Crater via Olduvai Gorge, site of archaeological findings, where traces of pre-historic man dating back to 3.5 million years ago have been discovered.

We will be stopping along the way for a delicious picnic lunch before arriving at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, which is spread along the uppermost rim of the Ngorongoro World Heritage site.

The lodge offers breathtaking scenic views of the crater floor far below. Each room is a suite with two Queen sized beds and the lobby area is a stunning combination of modern and ethnic décor.

Day Six: Full Day Crater Tour

After breakfast you will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It features the world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera with sides so steep that it has become a natural enclosure for a wide variety of wildlife, including most of the species found in East Africa. Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera shelters 25,000 large mammals.

Observe this wildlife spectacle on a game viewing drive within the crater and enjoy a picnic lunch served at a scenic spot on the crater floor. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon/evening at leisure back at your accommodation.

Day Seven: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha – International Flight

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and morning before departing for Arusha. Conduct some last minute souvenir shopping before or after your lunch at the Arusha Coffee Lodge. Afternoon transfer to the airport for your international flight.
