Where It All Began…
It all started on the red earth of Kenya—not with a
strategy or a business plan, but with an unexpected friendship.Mark Cahill, a teacher from the United States, came to East Africa chasing
something he couldn’t quite name—curiosity, perhaps, or clarity.Eliud, a Kenyan safari guide with a deep connection to the land, had spent his life reading
the rhythms of the bush and sharing them with those willing to listen. Their paths crossed, and something clicked. They saw Africa through the same lens: not just as a destination, but as something far more sacred—a place that stays with you.

Odyssey Safaris wasn’t built out of ambition. It was built out of reverence. A quiet promise between two people who wanted to show others the soul of Africa—not just the scenery. What began as a single journey soon grew into something larger, woven together by trust, storytelling, and the belief that travel can—and should—feel personal. More than twenty years later, that spirit still guides everything we do.

We are not a high-volume operator. That’s by choice. We don’t believe in booking thousands of trips a year. We believe in doing a few, extraordinarily well—safaris that are not just beautiful, but seamless. Grounded. Rooted in place and purpose. Africa is where this all began. It’s still all we do. And it’s where, for many of our travelers, something shifts—something real and lasting that no brochure could ever fully explain.
